Set up in September 2005 Micromania is a site dedicated to South American Dwarf Cichlids particularly those species within the genus Apistogramma.

The site has been set up primarily as a source of information for fellow hobbyists and Apistogramma enthusiasts and also to help distribute the surplus fish that i get from my breeding projects.

I must emphasize that i am first and foremost a hobbyist and it is my intention to distribute my surplus stock to likeminded people at very realistic/cost prices. The prices only reflect the costs involved in the breeding projects and running a small fish house (electricity, foods, medications etc). It is not my intention to make inflated profits on any of my fish. No profits are made on the shipping of the fish. The shipping charges only cover the costs involved in transporting the fish safely from myself to the hobbyist. These costs include the postage, packaging materials, medications, heat packs etc. Live arrival on any fish shipped by overnight Special Delivery (1pm service) is guaranteed.

It is now also possible to offer Terracotta spawning caves and Live food starter cultures (Microworm,Vinegar Eel, Grindalworm, Whiteworm, Flightless Fruit Fly and Paramecia) at realistic prices that include P&P.

I have recently (Oct 05) had the opportunity to purchase a group of six wild Biotoecus Opercularis. This is an excellent breeding opportunity as this South American dwarf cichlid is very rarely available on the import lists of the suppliers within the UK. In early February 06 i was lucky enough to have a pair spawn and lay a clutch of approximately 80 eggs. Hopefully this brood will go some way to help get this unique dwarf cichlid established and in the tanks of some of the more experienced Cichlidophiles in the UK.

Another rare species that i have recently managed to aquire and successfully breed is Ivanacara adoketa. This is another species not seen on the import lists and i now have a semi-adult group of 6 fish.

Apistogramma that i am breeding at the moment include Apisto diplotaenia, Apisto elizabethae, Apisto SP winkelflek, Apisto pantalone, Apisto SP jurua, Apisto mendezi and Apisto SP maulbruter. These Apistos are not often, if ever seen in the UK and my broodstock came to me via German importers/breeders as well as many species from Dr Uwe Romer who is pictured with me whilst on a recent trip into Holland.
